The Solar Boat in which the dead King was thought to be able to make his journey to the afterlife. This is the original, excavated from the area of the pyramids at Giza and reconstructed like a giant puzzle - the only new materials are the ropes. The ship was never intended to sail on water and was built solely for the mystical journey which would be taken by the King after his death. The boat has been reconsructed and is housed in a purpose built museum building next to the pyramids.

    Hi there - wish it were Spring here - we have "wintery showers" tonight (red some light snow or hail mixed with cold rain) and Spring feels far away. I am still stitching on my Canadian flag and my Margaret Sherry Christmas design - an yesterday I finished up a small quilt that has been years in the making (see my blog for a picture). I'm working 25 hrs a week until the end of March when this temp. job is due to end - but today I was tring to convince the sales mamager that he needs me for another 4 weeks FULL time to sort out the fabric library and brochure system at the company. The fabric library is not as interesting as it sounds as it is absorbent fabrics for industrial/medical/food use but it is a disorganised mess! Off to snuggle with a puzzle book and a blanket for a while before bedtime...

    What are you stitching right now? Do you quilt?

    imageWow - 40th! My eldest celebrated his 29th last Sunday and I was wondering where the years went to. It was great because my other DS came up for lunch that day too - around 120 miles each way, bless him. That day was Mothers Day here in UK and I felt very blessed having both my kids and my lovely honourary daughter in law round the table

    Keep popping back - I plan to change the photos on a regular basis - and have some more of my Egypt ones to put on soon. Thanks for the Kudo - we need to stay in closer touch now that I am back and getting settled into my home routine again. The Agency have found me a part time job for the rest of March, starting on Monday, so back to reality! LOL!
